Community rules

Last updated: April 2026

Team Mac is a public space for civic conversation about life in Jersey. These rules apply to all posts and comments. They are intended to keep the platform useful, honest, and safe — not to prevent robust disagreement.

What we ask of you

  • Be honest. Don't submit posts you know to be false, and don't misrepresent who you are or where you're from.
  • Be civil. Disagree with ideas, not people. Personal attacks, insults, and harassment are not allowed.
  • Stick to Jersey. Posts should relate to life in Jersey and to matters that could reasonably affect islanders or be within the influence of a Jersey Deputy.
  • One account per person. Do not create multiple accounts to inflate voice counts or otherwise game the platform.
  • Protect others' privacy. Don't share personal information about identifiable private individuals — home addresses, phone numbers, medical information, or anything similar — without their consent.
  • No unverified accusations. Don't make specific accusations of criminal or seriously improper conduct against named individuals unless the matter is already a matter of public record.

What will be removed

Content will be rejected or removed if it:

  • Is unlawful, defamatory, or in contempt of court.
  • Incites hatred against any group.
  • Consists of spam, advertising, or off-topic material.
  • Threatens, harasses, or intimidates any person.
  • Shares the private personal data of others without consent.
  • Impersonates another person.

How moderation works

All new posts are reviewed by a moderator before they appear publicly. This usually happens within 24 hours. Comments from new accounts are also held for moderation; accounts with a history of approved contributions move to a lighter-touch review tier over time.

If your post or comment is rejected, you will not be notified automatically. If you believe a decision was made in error, contact us at moderation@petermclinton.je.

Reporting content

Every post and comment has a report button. If you believe something breaks these rules, please report it. Reports are reviewed by the moderation team and acted on as quickly as possible.

Accounts

Accounts that repeatedly break these rules will be warned, restricted, or suspended depending on the severity and frequency of the violations. In serious cases — particularly harassment or repeated defamatory content — accounts may be permanently banned.

Official content

Comments and responses from Peter Mac and Team Mac are marked clearly with a “Team Mac” badge. We will never post unofficial content under that badge.

Changes to these rules

We may update these rules as the platform develops. We will update the date above and notify registered users of any material changes by email.
